This last rotation has been a whirlwind and I have been so incredibly busy it’s insane! Call continues to be brutality, but at least I’m getting a bit more comfortable with my skills. The learning curve for this residency is enormous and I still have an immense amount of information to shove into my brain (ugh..terrible) since we don’t really cover what I do in medical school.

However, it’s crazy to believe that this is my last week here for this rotation. Then, I get shipped off again to a distant location for my next rotation. I’m told there is absolutely nothing to do in this town I’m going to, so I’m not looking forward to that. However, that might mean that I will have more time to focus on studying and learning (…yay…).

No, but do you know what I am SUPER EXCITED ABOUT?!!? Guys, I get to go home for Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!! You may not know this, but Thanksgiving is my holiday. I love it so much. I had to work last year on Thanksgiving, but my family was awesome and all but my brother were able to make it over to my place which was just awesome. This year, I was suppose to be stuck with ALL of the holidays (gah…the problem with still being a first year when you start your residency after a separate intern year like mine= you are STILL low man on the totem pole). Oh well, perhaps I should try to look at it like this hehe:

Regardless, I’m pretty sure it’ll be great to be an upper year in terms of things like scheduling….call…etc.

Anyway, back to the story, last week I found out that the attending decided that no one was going to be on call. First plus, although, I’d have to still be there because I had to cover clinic the previous Wednesday and Friday after since my third year is going to be out. Then, the clinic attending decided that there was not going to be Friday clinic! Guys, I was all like:

When I heard. What did I do? Of course, I immediately got online and started looking for flights and booked my ticket home. Man though, those tickets are so expensive! It cost me almost 1000 dollars to get home. Ridiculous, but I desperately need to see my family.

I’m happy to report my family is excited that I’m coming home, as well. I spoke to my dad this past weekend about it and he expressed his excitement by saying, “Now we actually have a reason to cook!” I was like WHAT?!?! That’s the most ridiculous thing. Sad, though, he was like, it just wouldn’t be the same and feel weird. Yep…guys..this is my holiday. So high five!!

Anyway, while I’m trying to not pass out from excitement. I think you should try out this awesome pumpkin pie protein yogurt. Try it out and see how you like it because it plays a big role in next week’s healthy dessert recipe ;). Get excited.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

What is your favorite holiday?

  2. This use to be a fav and staple when we ate greek yogurt. I’m going to have to try it again and maybe even Siggi’s since it’s a staple with the family and my oldest and I are trying to add back in otherwise make with coconut milk yogurt.
